Suspects in death of disabled veteran indicted on felony murder charges

ROGERSVILLE — Two Hawkins County men accused in the March 16 beating death of a Rogersville disabled veteran were indicted Tuesday on numerous charges, including felony first-degree murder.

Austin Scott Price, 18, 202 Thorpes Chapel Road, Rogersville, and Samuel Wade Hirsch, 22, no permanent address, are scheduled for arraignment Friday in Hawkins County Criminal Court.

Both remain held in the Hawkins County Jail on $1 million bond each.

On Tuesday, the Hawkins County grand jury indicted Price and Hirsch with one count each of felony first-degree  murder, which is murder during the commission of a felony, as well as aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, and theft over $1,000.

The victim, 52-year-old Roger Hawkins, was a disabled 21-year military veteran who had completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
