MANCHESTER — The Sullivan South girls shot a final-round 159 for a two-day total of 315 and captured the TSSAA Class A-AA state golf championship held at WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester on Wednesday.
The South boys, rallied in the final round but came up just short. Alcoa beat the Rebels 591-608.
Allyson Dunn finished second individually among the girls with a 152 (75-77) and Taylor White tied for 15th at 168 (81-87).
Kaitlyn Grills rebounded from an opening-round 100 with a final-round 82. Combined with Dunn’s 77, Grills’ score proved to be the difference, propelling the Lady Rebels to victory. Grills finished tied for 28th with a total score of 182.
The Rebels’ Cayman Ratliff was eighth individually with a 145 (74-71) and teammate Tanner Hall was 16th with a 152 (79-73).
South was in third place going into the final round and put on a furious rally to vault into second place.
