KINGSPORT — With the Three Rivers Conference title on the line, Sullivan South’s volleyball team was able to sweep Sullivan East 25-21, 25-11, 25-15 on Tuesday night.
The Lady Patriots led 21-20 in Game 1 before the Lady Rebels scored the final five points to close out the set. That seemed to deflate East, which fell behind 19-5 in Game 2 and never recovered.
South (30-7, 10-0) was led by its dynamic senior class on Senior Night. Rylee Milhorn came up especially huge for the Lady Rebels, slamming home 16 kills to go along with seven digs. Haley Price tallied 11 kills and also had seven digs.
Hannah Johnson handed out 22 assists for South and Brayden Hutchins came up with nine digs.
Hannah Price had six kills and 17 digs for East (23-18, 8-2). Haley Roe distributed 16 assists and came up with 14 digs for the Lady Patriots, who got 12 digs from Kendall Ivester.
South, in its first season in the Three Rivers, and East both have secured first-round byes in next week’s District 1-AA tournament, which will be held at Unicoi County High School.Read more in Wednesday’s print edition of the Times-News or in the expanded electronic edition.
