GREENEVILLE — Miles Freeman rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown while passing for 92 yards and another and the Bears’ defense almost succeeded in keeping Tusculum entirely out of the end zone in a 24-10 South Atlantic Conference road win at Pioneer Field.
Freeman’s 14-yard scoring run put the game essentially out of reach with 5:10 remaining in the game. He hit Greyson Wells with an 11-yard scoring strike in the second quarter.
Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell hit 35 of 51 passing attempts for 288 yards, giving up one interception. His 1-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter, that brought the Pioneers within a touchdown of Catawba and accounted for the Pioneers’ lone TD.
Placekicker Logan Cornelius initiated scoring for Tusculum (2-2, 0-1), hitting a 20-yard field goal in the first quarter.
Jarrod Spears had a 3-yard TD run in the first quarter for the Bears (3-1, 2-0), Placekicker Zach Neumann added a 28-yard field goal in third quarter.
