KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An appeals court has dismissed a murder conviction against a man accused of giving a fatal dose of methamphetamine to a Campbell County woman.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that the state Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Friday that no proof shows Jayne Love died from a drug overdose.
Phillip Pack was convicted of second-degree murder in March 2010. Pack had been accused of delivering a dose of meth that caused Love to die.
The 33-year-old Love was reported missing in May 2008. Her skeletal remains were found in a wooded area in Jacksboro in September 2008.
Although a forensic anthropologist determined via medical records that the skeleton was Love's, he could not pinpoint the time of her death or her cause of death.
