The Nickelsville Area TAG, or Teen Action Group, is celebrating its one year anniversary.
TAG is a Christian service organization designed to help teens strengthen their knowledge and faith in God while helping others in their community. TAG is sponsored by the Nickelsville United Methodist Church and is open to any area 7th through 12th grader. The group is led by Jeff and Sheila Stapleton and meets every 1st and 3rd Sunday in the Nickelsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 3 to 5pm. Our membership is a mixture of youth from several different churches throughout Scott County.
Sunday, Sept. 15 the members of the TAG Team and guests spent the afternoon kayaking on the Clinch River as part of their most recent community service project. The team members worked to remove litter along a 3 mile stretch of the river, while at the same time enjoying an afternoon of kayaking.
Throughout its first year, TAG has conducted several other service projects. Some of those include: rebuilding the community cross in Nickelsville; administrating the local Upward Basketball games for one week; completing a community beautification project; and providing free beverages during local community events.
Anyone interested in joining the TAG Team is encouraged to attend the next meeting. TAG -- You’re It!
