Trial date set for 3 in slayings of homeless

KNOXVILLE — Three people charged with killing a trio of homeless people in Knoxville have been set for trial in 2014.

Knox County Criminal Court Judge Mary Beth Leibowitz ordered 22-year-old Hope Carol Warvi, 27-year-old Joshua Cool and 29-year-old Brandon Roberts to stand trial on Sept. 8, with a status conference in January.

The trio are accused in the slayings of 28-year-old Collin Colbert, 29-year-old Ryan Gorney and 32-year-old Grace Standridge in April.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that police have released few details about the slayings. All three have pleaded not guilty.
