NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee's unemployment rate for August was 8.5 percent, unchanged from the previous month.
Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips said it's the third consecutive month that the rate has not changed from 8.5 percent.
The national unemployment rate for August was 7.3 percent.
State figures show that nonfarm employment increased by 2,200 jobs from July to August.
