CHURCH HILL — Hawkins County is addressing its Holston River bridge problems all at once in 2013.
Prep work began this week for repairs to the Goshen Valley Road bridge just south of Church Hill, which will be reduced to one lane of traffic for about four months.
Contractors have been surveying the bridge this week, and next week they will begin installing a traffic signal on both ends to direct single lane traffic 24 hours per day.
Hawkins County Highway Superintendent Lowell Bean said the Goshen Valley Bridge will be reduced to one lane either late next week or early the following week.
This is the third Holston River bridge in Hawkins County to undergo repairs this year.
