ROCK HILL, S.C. — Tusculum College quarterback Bo Cordell was named the South Atlantic Conference offensive football player of the week on Monday.
Cordell, a graduate student from Cincinnati, passed for a SAC single-game record 596 yards in Tusculum’s 54-41 win over Elizabeth City State on Saturday. The output was also the 15th-best passing performance in NCAA Division II history.
Cordell leads the nation in passer efficiency at 247.7 and ranks fourth in passing yards with 778.
He went 31-for-42 and accounted for five touchdowns, four passing and one rushing. Nine of his completions went for more than 20 yards, including an 88-yard TD toss to Johnathan Dilberto that matched the longest pass play in school history.
In Saturday's game Cordell became the NCAA Division II all-time leader in career completions with 1,140. He also broke the school and SAC single-game marks with his 612 total offensive yards (596 pass, 16 rush), which is the 18th most in the D-II record book.
Cordell has passed for 12,123 career yards, the fourth most in history by a D-II quarterback.
Tusculum, off to its first 2-0 start since 2010, travels to North Greenville (2-0) this Saturday night.
