CHURCH HILL — Kellie Kirk was the catalyst for Volunteer on Tuesday in a 25-12, 21-25, 25-15, 25-14 Big 7 Conference volleyball win over David Crockett.
The senior recorded 20 service points, with crucial runs in two games, to help the Lady Falcons pick up their 11th victory of the season.
Junior Katie McCann came through with 13 service points and had 17 digs for Volunteer.
Lady Falcons coach Tina Evans has gotten dependable play from the squad’s four seniors this season, but is impressed with the growth of some of the younger players.
“In talking with other coaches, you see that we play in a tough conference and you have to be up every game. What I am seeing as the season goes is the younger players step up,” Evans said.
“Hope McMurray is stepping up and getting more comfortable at middle while Morgan Marshall is developing her serve and defense.”
Emily Armstrong continues to be a defensive force for the Lady Falcons. The senior knocked out 22 kills while adding seven serves and four digs.
McMurray added six kills.
