FOREST, Va. — Emory & Henry freshman outside hitter Tristen Pennington of Kingsport was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week on Monday.
The Sullivan South alum led the Wasps to a 4-1 mark last week, averaging 3.68 kills and 3.26 digs per set. She posted a trio of double-doubles against Virginia Intermont, Methodist University and St. Mary’s College during the Hollins Green Invitational. She notched a career-high 19 kills against Methodist and had 22 digs against VI.
For the week, Pennington had 70 kills, a .244 hitting percentage, 62 digs and 11 service aces. She currently leads the Wasps in kills per set (3.68) and hitting percentage (.272) and is second in service aces (14), digs (68) and digs per set (3.09).
