Three seriously injured after crashing into Bristol K-Mart

Three people had to be cut from their vehicle after it crossed West State Street in Bristol, accelerated through the K-Mart parking lot and crashed into the building.

The Bristol Tennessee Police Department reports the Thursday incident resulted in serious injury to the occupants, along with significant damage to the front of the business.

"According to witnesses at the scene, the vehicle had pulled from a parking lot of an adjacent business and accelerated to a high rate of speed," reads a BTPD press release. "The vehicle continued on its path across W. State St into the parking lot of KMART, striking the building."

The statement issued late Thursday night said drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the incident.

Police say an investigation is continuing, with the condition of the victims currently unknown. They were transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center.
