GATE CITY — Scott County could soon see some new jobs being created if a vote taken this week by supervisors is any indication.
The Scott County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a resolution that helps set the path for an unnamed company to expand its operations there.
The resolution gives Scott County Administrator Kathie Noe the authority to work with the Scott County Economic Development Authority and sign any documents necessary to support the project.
The board’s vote followed a roughly 30-minute closed session hearing that was called to discuss a confidential prospect with Scott County EDA Director John Kilgore.
“Economic development takes everyone working together and we appreciate the board’s vote this week in support of economic growth within the county,” Kilgore said after the meeting.
According to the resolution, the business in question is seeking funds from the commonwealth of Virginia to assist with the proposed expansion.
