KINGSPORT — Kingsport may have found a site for its new baseball and softball complex.
During its regular meeting Tuesday night, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved an option agreement on 98 acres of land owned by General Shale off Industry Drive — the former location of the company’s brick manufacturing facility.
The property is bound by the Riverview community and Cement Hill, Hill Street and Industry Drive.
“As we’ve continued to look for the best site, one of the sites mentioned rapidly by a number of people is the General Shale site,” said City Manager John Campbell. “It does have excellent capabilities for softball fields and enough land to do the critical four or five fields, but extra land for other recreational purposes.”See Wednesday's print edition for an expanded version of this story. comments powered by Disqus
