MACON, Ga. — East Tennessee State garnered six first place votes and earned first place in the Atlantic Sun preseason cross country coaches poll.
The Bucs had 94 points followed by Lipscomb (74) in second and Kennesaw State (67) in third.
“We are flattered to be recognized by the conference,” said ETSU director of track & field/cross country George Watts. “More importantly though, our team needs to remember that the champion is determined on Nov. 2.”
ETSU is led by A-Sun preseason runner of the year Fillip Jalovy, a two-time first team all-conference performer. The Bucs’ Adam Chase, a former standout at Dobyns-Bennett, was a second-team A-Sun selection in 2012.
The Lady Bucs, who return four of their top five runners, have been selected to finish fourth.East Tennessee State opens the season on Sept. 14 at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
