Kingsport man faces child porn charges

Joshua D. Johnson

A Kingsport man has been arrested following the alleged discovery of child porn on his computer.

Joshua D. Johnson, 27, turned himself in Tuesday night at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office in Blountville. A warrant for his arrest was obtained following indictments last week by a Sullivan County grand jury, charging him with 35 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to police records, an individual contacted the SCSO on Aug. 6. They claimed to have discovered evidence of child pornography on Johnson's computer.

Police say a deputy responded to Johnson's home, 1333 Kings Meadow Private Drive, and viewed questionable images and web searches. That prompted the immediate seizure of his computer, according to police, with Johnson consenting to a search later that day.

SCSO detectives continued investigating the case. Their findings were later presented to the grand jury, prompting the indictments.

As of Wednesday afternoon Johnson remained held in the Sullivan County Correctional Facility on a $100,000 bond.
