Like many downtown businesses, Rascals teen center was affected by the July 17 flood.
Water came in the front doors and up through the drains in many areas of the building. Fortunately, the water removal was done quickly without much damage to the tile floor and they only lost a few pieces of furniture. Or so we thought…
Amy McAtee, executive director of Rascals, started noticing a musty smell when entering the building. Upon further perusal, she noticed Rascals' lower level back room to have mold growing on the walls, base, and furnishings.
Amy contacted SERVPRO of Kingsport/Bristol and told them Rascals was a non-profit organization (struggling with the usual summertime lag) and asked if they would be willing to give a free estimate for mold removal and repairs. The owner, Blake Swecker, not only came out to survey the damage, but he sent in a team to tear out the damaged walls, treat the affected areas, and furnished dehumidifier’s and blower’s for drying…all for free!
Blake Swecker and SERVPRO of Kingsport/Bristol went above and beyond in their community service to Rascals. Their office staff and field employees were extremely helpful and professional. Rascals would like to THANK SERVPRO of Kingsport/Bristol for their support and hope others will remember them should they have a need arise.
