The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a flood advisory for Sullivan County, Washington County, Va., and the cities of Bristol and Abingdon until 8:45 p.m.
National Weather Service Doppler radar showed thunderstorms with very heavy rain moving east across portions of the advisory area. Radar indicated rainfall in excess of one inch has fallen across parts of Washington County.
An additional inch or more of rain may fall before the heavy rain moves out. With the ground already wet in many locations, runoff from this rain will likely cause flooding of some smaller creeks and streams as well as ponding of water in low lying areas.
