Kingsport police seeking help in auto theft investigation

Kingsport police are asking for help from the public in locating an auto theft suspect.

In the early morning hours of Aug. 1, the suspect entered Collins Auto Center located on Lynn Garden Drive. The suspect then opened several unlocked door, damaged dashboard panels and cut wires in what police say looked like an attempt to hot wire the cars.

The suspect then tried to push a Honda Civic under the security cable in an attempt to steal it, but was unsuccessful, the police report stated.

Police describe the suspect as a white male with a slim build and short, dark hair.

Anyone with any information regarding the identity of this suspect is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
