BLOUNTVILLE — New Bluff City Elementary School Assistant Principal Amie Mumpower recently became the last school administrator appointed for the 2012-13 school year.
The appointment was effective before school started Aug. 5, but the school system did not formally announce it until Friday afternoon.
Her appointment marks the last in a series of administrative appointments at county schools, all in the Sullivan North or Sullivan South high school zones except for Mumpower’s in the Sullivan East High zone.
Mumpower began her teaching career in 1998 at the old Brookside Elementary School in the Bloomingdale community, next to Kingsport. Since 2012-13, that school has been home to Innovation Academy of Northeast Tennessee.
She most recently served as a teacher at Indian Springs Elementary, said Lib Sells, supervisor of human resources for the county school system.
Mumpower holds a bachelor of science degree from East Tennessee State University, a master of arts degree from Cumberland University and an education specialist degree in administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
Mumpower said she is “grateful and excited to be the assistant principal at Bluff City Elementary and to have the opportunity to serve the Bluff City community.”
Previously appointed administrators in the North zone are new North High Principal Brent Palmer, North High Assistant Principal Jennifer Wilburn, North High Assistant Earl Millard and Ketron Elementary Assistant Principal Cathy Anderson. Ketron Co-Principal Wendell Smith became principal at that school.
In the South zone, new administrators are South High Assistant Principal Josh Tate, South High Assistant Aaron Flanary, Sullivan K-8 Principal Darrell Moore and Sullivan K-8 Assistant Principal Jamie Whitinger.
