Case found in roadway contained empty pill bottles

CHURCH HILL — A mysterious tin case found beside
the road in Church Hill Sunday evening was found to contain several empty pill
bottles.

Around 6:45 p.m. Sunday Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy
Jeremy Nash responded to 182 California Road in Church Hill on a complaint of a
suspicious package on the roadside.

“Upon my arrival I spoke to Wayne
Thompson who stated that he was walking down the road and observed a tin case
laying on the roadway,” Nash said. “Wayne said he did not want to touch the
case, if in fact, it had something illegal in it.”

When Nash opened the case
he reportedly found five empty pill bottles prescribed to a person named Debra
Hurst.

Nash said he was unable to make contact with Hurst and the pill
bottles and case were entered into evidence.
