JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State midfielder Itode Fubara will look to carry the momentum of a successful summer into his senior season. The Ogbema, Nigeria native has been named to the Southern Conference Team of the Year for the Premier Development League, placing him among the top 44 players in the nation.
Fubara, who was named to last season’s All-Atlantic Sun first team, has been playing for the Orlando City U-23 team this summer, an affiliate of the Orlando City Lions of the United Soccer Leagues Professional Division (USL Pro).
Appearing in all 14 matches for the U23s, Fubara logged the most minutes on the team while helping anchor a solid midfield group.
“I’m at a loss for words,” Fubara said in an interview with OrlandoCitySoccer.com. “It’s always great to be recognized. All the credit to the guys for their dedication and hard work.”
Throughout his ETSU career, Fubara has started 61 games, ranking him third on the Buccaneers’ all-time list behind Aaron Schoenfield of the MLS’ Columbus Crew (68) and Jaron Westbrook (63).
