Barbershop send students back to school in style

Carew owner J.R. Carew Jackson gives Hunter Crawford his back to school haircut.

Carew Cuts Barbershop owners J.R. Crew Jackson and Mica Taylor, along with master barber Bobby Scruggs and Johnny Jackson, gave free haircuts to area students on Friday.

H.O.P.E, Help Our Potential Evolve,  partnered with Carew Cuts for the event at the barber shop. Boys ages kindergarten through high school received free hair cuts, while both boys and girls in elementary and middle schools received free backpacks and other school supplies.

The Sullivan County Health Department, CASA and Greater Commission Church and the Kingsport Police Department also will participate in the event at the shop.
