KELLY PAUL McCLAIN III
ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man was charged with aggravated domestic assault early Wednesday morning after allegedly breaking his wife’s nose after she reportedly discovered him talking on the phone to his girlfriend.
Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenny Lunsford Jr. stated in his report that he located the victim, Shenna McLain, after following a trail of blood into a residence while responding to a noise complaint at 626 Shepherds Chapel Road just west of Rogersville.
Upon his arrival Wednesday at 12:45 a.m., Lunsford reportedly observed several people run into a home and camper on the property.
As he entered the residence, Lunsford reportedly observed blood on the front steps.
“Inside the home at the entry to the living room I found a large pool of blood,” Lunsford said. “I spoke to a man who stated his daughter was beaten by her husband and it was her blood.”
Lunsford followed the blood trail into a bathroom where he found McLain suffering what appeared to be a broken nose covered in blood.
Mrs. McLain stated that her husband, Kelly Paul McLain III, 23, 1239 Tarpine Valley Road, Rogersville, had punched her in the face following an argument.
“The argument was started after she found Kelly on the phone with his girlfriend,” Lunsford said. “Shenna stated she got mad and tried to push Kelly, who is 6 foot 2 inches tall and 240 pounds. Shenna stated that he did not move when she pushed him. Shenna stated Kelly then punched her in the face and she fell down.”
Lunsford added, “The next thing Shenna remembers is laying on the ground bleeding and watching Kelly drive away.”
Kelly McLain was arrested at his residence shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday. This was the second time in less than a year he has been charged with a domestic aggravated assault.
After being examined by a doctor, Shenna McLain was told her nose was broken in two places, Lunsford said.
As of Thursday, Kelly McLain remained held in the Hawkins County Jail without bond.
