Kingsport Mets GM: Beer is good

KINGSPORT  —  The Kingsport Mets have declared that beer sales at Hunter Wright Stadium have been a success.

After much anticipation of beer sales at Kingsport Mets games this summer, Mets officials say beer sales have been going well and have added to the atmosphere at the ballgames.

The organization hopes the ballpark food-friendly beverage continues to help increase attendance throughout the season.

“When we introduced beer sales at the ballpark and to the fans, we wanted to make sure that we did it right. We didn’t want to overdo it in its first year, and I think we have done a great job of being respectful of that,” said K-Mets General Manager Brian Paupeck.

“Beer sales have gotten off to a good start. The fans that I have spoken to like the fact that they can go to a Kingsport Mets game now, buy a beer and watch the ballgame,” he said.

Paupeck said the Mets organization is committed to making Hunter Wright Stadium an enjoyable venue of entertainment for everyone in the community. Since the Mets took over the day-to-day operations of the Kingsport Mets, there have been many changes to increase attendance and support in the community.

The Mets return home tonight for a three-game series against the Elizabethton Twins.  All games for the series begin at 7pm. Gates open at 6pm.

Tickets are $6 for reserved seating, $4 for adult general admission seating, $3 general admission for children (12 and under), senior citizens (55 and older) or with a military ID.  For groups of 25 or more, tickets are $3 for general admission.
