Rogersville Playhouse serves up ‘Murder, Country Style’ dinner show

Audiences are invited to join the cast of Two Pence Productions as they help kick off the world tour of the country music sensation The Stumpp Family Singers in Eileen Moushey’s “Murder, Country Style,” playing July 12 and 13 at the Rogersville Playhouse.

Curtains up is 7 p.m. both nights.

Led by Tucker Stumpp, the only surviving member of the ill-fated Stumpp Boys, members of The Stumpp Family Singers — also featuring Tucker’s nephews, Eugene (the dweeb) and Flint (the hunk), and the twins, Doreen and Mae Rue — set out to resurrect the music that was lost so many years ago after a tragic plane crash killed three-fourths of The Stumpp Boys.

Audiences will delight as the family brings back some classic hits along with their current number one smash, “Roadkill.”

Unfortunately, someone seems to want to end the Stumpps’ comeback and silence Tuck forever. Threatening letters and odd packages have been arriving for weeks and have the family “pretty scared.” Tucker has hired a bodyguard, a former Secret Service agent, who will join forces with a local policewoman to try and identify the author(s) and stop the hired killer.
“Murder, Country Style” stars Adrian Thomas, Tod C. Riddle, Shea Sanabria, Danielle Elizabeth Wright, Nicole Vanhoy, Brad Ward, Dina Haines and Caren Rachel Wright as Mae Rue Stumpp.

“This is one of my favorite plays by Eileen Moushey,” said Thomas, who’s also the show’s director. “Plus we have some truly talented musicians cast as the family so the music is actually good.

“Danielle Elizabeth Wright is an amazing bluegrass singer and guitarist. We are truly blessed to have her acting as our musical director on this production.”

Tickets are $35 at the door and include a pulled-pork dinner buffet with all the fixin’s.

Prizes will be awarded to the audience members who best figure out the mystery and help solve the crime.

“Murder, Country Style” is sponsored by Curves of Rogersville and The Rogersville Arts Council.

Due to some adult humor and situations, the show is recommended for mature audiences.
