KINGSPORT — Lincoln Elementary School has a new principal, and a local STEM school a new English teacher.
Shelia Newland has been named to Lincoln principal, according to a release from Andy
Newland most recently served as the associate principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Her experience also includes seven years of teaching math at John Sevier Middle School, serving as an elementary instructor in Virginia, and 11 True, Kingsport City Schools’ spokesman.

Immediate past Principal Vicki Clevinger requested a transfer to teacher English and language arts at Innovation Academy of Northeast Tennessee, True said. IA is a joint Kingpsort-Sullivan County science, technology, engineering and math or STEM school in the county's former Brookside Elementary School building in Bloomingdale. It is expanding this fall from grades 6-7 to grades, 6, 7 and 8.
Newland holds a bachelor's of science in elementary education from East Tennessee State University, a master’s degree in English as a second language from the College of New Jersey, and an educational specialist degree in administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
