Happy Independence Day! Fourth of July activities abound today throughout the region, but here’s some other events on tap this weekend:

• Paul Williams & The Victory Trio will perform at 7 p.m., Friday during the Bluegrass on Broad summer concert series in downtown Kingsport. Admission is free. Bring non-perishable items to donate to local food banks. Bring lawn chairs, but not your pets or coolers.

• Abingdon Main Street will host a Red, White and Beach Party from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday at the Abingdon Market Pavilion in Abingdon, Va. Music will be provided by the Abingdon Convention and Visitors Bureau and will feature The Tams with 14K Gold. The event is free. Food vendors and an adult beverage garden will be available. • The Mount Carmel Block Party will be held from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, featuring bands, food vendors, activities for the kids, a wrestling arena and a new car display. Fireworks at 11 p.m. will conclude the evening. Shuttle service will be available from the Oak Grove Baptist Church parking lot.

• The King’s Messengers, Jim Gates and the Keykeepers, II Disciples and the Fall Creek Band will perform a free concert from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday at the amphitheater at Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, Va.
