CLASSES, WORKSHOPS

Kidzeye Theatre

Johnson City Community Theatre will continue its week-long Kidzeye Theatre workshops this summer for children ages 7-13. During the workshops, to be held July 8-12 and July 29-Aug. 2, students will learn stage presence, blocking, character development and more. Each week of the workshop will feature a different play so that children who want to attend all three sessions will have a different experience each time. Leading the workshops will be director/playwright Chris Bernstein and JCCT’s theatre manager, Thomas Townsend. Tuition is $150 for each week-long session, with discounts available for siblings. Enrollment sheets are available online at www.jcct.info; parents may also email kids@jcct.info or call the theatre at (423) 926-2542.

Summer conservatories

The Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts will host several summer conservatories at the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre and the newly renovated McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School: July 8-20, Drifting Theatre Actor Training; July 22-27, Stage Hands; and July 30 and 31, “Shrek the Musical” Workshop. For more information, call (423) 791-4779 or email JRTstudents@yahoo.com.
