Meth lab found on same street as Bulls Gap child daycare center

BULLS GAP — Hawkins County deputies arrested a Bulls Gap couple Wednesday night after allegedly finding a meth lab and meth lab components at a rental home about 600 feet from a children’s daycare center.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday he HCSO Narcotics Unit responded to 213 Northridge Circle, Bulls Gap after receiving a complaint of possible meth manufacturing in the residence. 

According to reports that address is rented by Donald Martin Rife, 38, and his girlfriend Jessica Lynn Daniels, 31, who moved ther in April.

Deputies spoke to Rife about the complaint and rife reportedly gave them permission to search the residence.

According to a report filed by Detective Jeff Hilton, deputies located a bucket on the porch containing an HCL generator, sulfuric acid, a one-pot meth lab in a Gatorade bottle, and one quart mason jar containing a clear flammable liquid.

Hilton added, “Throughout the residence officers also located empty salt containers, aluminum foil, Coleman fuel, empty lithium battery packs, empty psuedoephedrine boxes and blister packs, receipts for purchases of components, and cold packs containing ammonia nitrate.”

Daniels allegedly admitting to purchasing items used to manufacture meth at least once since moving into the residence.

The residence is located approximately 600 feet from Discovery Days Childcare, also on Northridge Circle.

“She told officers she had knowledge of his continuance of cooking meth at the residence and where he purchased some of the components to manufacture meth,” Hilton said. “It was also discovered that Ms. Daniel purchased psuedoephedrine on more than one occasion while living at the residence.”

Daniels was charged with promoting meth manufacturing and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are housed, sold or manufactured. 

A loaded .22 caliber Ruger rifle was also located in the residence.

Rife was charged with initiating the process to manufacture meth, possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are house, sold or manufactured.

As of Thursday both remained held in the Hawkins County Jail on $75,000 bond.
