Summer Camps:  Johnson City Parks and Recreation








Grip it and Rip it Golf Camp I


Location: Pine Oaks Golf Course 

Date: June 10-14, Time: 9a.m.- 12p.m.


Ages: 8-14, Cost: $30 

Description: This youth golf camp will introduce kids to the great game of
golf. Participants will need to bring a packed lunch or money for refreshment at break time. Par-
ticipants will spend time on the putting green and driving range to improve their game. Partici-
pants are encouraged to bring their own clubs if they wish, however we will have some equip-
ment on hand if needed. Camp is limited to the first 30 paid participants.

Room to Roam Nature & Art Camp Location

Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park 

Date:
June 17-21, Time: 9a.m.- 4p.m. 

Ages: 7-14, Cost: $60 

Description: Let’s take a closer look at what
our environ- ment has to share. Room to Roam is a fun-filled week of nature education, cre-
ative expression, guest artists and imagination. We will learn about the flora and fauna of our
park wilderness then use what we have learned, as well as what we find, to create art projects.
There will be many games; hiking, painting, nature education and art. T-shirt included (Maximum
38 children).

J.C. Parks and Recreation Football Camp 

Location: Kermit Tipton Stadium/Steve Spurrier
Field 

Date: June 17-21, Time: 9a.m.- 12p.m. 

Ages: 8-14, Cost: $30 

Description: Improve your
skills in catching, passing, running, offense and defense. Participation at this camp will prepare
your child for the upcoming youth football season. Guest speakers and guest instructors from
Science Hill’s football program will make visits each day during the week. Camp is limited to the
first 30 paid participants.


ART Mix-a-Lot Camp Week 

Location: Princeton Arts Center 

Dates: June 24-28, 2013, Time:
9a.m.- 4p.m.

Ages: 6-12, Cost: $70 

Description: Learn and create Mixed Media Art by combining different
paints, drawings and using cool and wacky materials to create amazing pieces of art work! You
will get to take home your artwork and share with your friends and family. We will take a field trip
on Wednesday to Into the Fire; there will be a $10 charge for studio fees and to paint a fun ceramic piece. Children will be provided with a camp T-Shirt and breakfast and lunch (30 maximum).

Fit to Play Camp 

(6 weeks) 

Location: Memorial Park Community Center 

Date: June 10-July
19, Time: 9a.m.- 4p.m. 

Ages: 6-12, Cost: $150 

Description: Our goal is to make sure EVERY child
is Fit to Play. Summer campers will participate in activities that will build strength, endurance and flexibility. We’ll have a heart racing time running, swimming, playing tennis, volleyball, soccer, and basketball (Maximum 100 children).








WATER - The Incredible Journey Camp 

Location: Robert Young Cabin – Winged Deer Park 

Dates:
June 24-28, Time: 9a.m.- 4p.m.

 Ages: 7-14, Cost: $60 

Description: Water is very unique to our planet.
Campers will get an understanding of the water cycle. The importance of wetlands; get up close and
personal to some animals that live in and around the water. We will learn about how to take care of
our water with the help of some guest speakers and take a field trip where we explore stream life and
go swim- ming at Rock Creek Park. T-shirt included (Maximum 38).






Basketball Slam Dunk Camp

 Location: Legion Rec. Center 

Date: June 24-28, Time: 9a.m.- 4p.m.

 Ages: 6-14, Cost:$50 

Description: Your kids will grow and learn about more than basketball at Basketball Slam Dunk Camp. Guest instructors and speakers will include former E.T.S.U., Milligan College
and Science Hill High School players. While they practice ball handling, dribbling, and shooting, participants will also learn about self-esteem, teamwork, and the value of hard work. Camp is limited to
the first 35 paid participants in each session. Children will be provided a camp t-shirt and lunch. 

Cultural Performing Arts Camp 

Location: Carver Recreation Center 

Dates: June 24-28, Time:
9 a.m.- 4 p.m.






Ages: 6-12, Cost: $50

 Description: Campers will learn about the African continent through music,
dance, theater, and performance poetry. Learn African drumming and dancing, as well as a Liberian
cooking tasting from a local business owner. We will take a trip to one of the local music stores and to
the downtown theater. Arts, crafts, and games will be part of the afternoon activities. T-Shirts and
lunch will be provided (Maximum 35).
