A call about a gunshot in Bristol about an apparent suicide has led to first-degree murder charges.
Franklin Delph, 100 Ash Street, Apartment 1A, called police on May 31 and stated his wife, Sue Delph, had committed suicide.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found Mrs. Delph lying dead on the floor of the apartment with obvious trauma to the head, according to the police report.
During the initial statements, Delph allegedly gave conflicting information, which led officers to believe the shooting was suspicioius in nature.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment. Physical evidence was collected that was in conflict with his previous statements about the events leading up to the shooting. Evidence at the scene also seemed to disprove Delph’s statement that his wife had committed suicide, the police report stated.
Delph was arrested on May 31 for being a felon in the possession of a firearm and taken to the Sullivan county Jail. On June 3, an arrest warrant was obtained charging Delph with first-degree murder.
Bond is set at $250,000.
