Brian K. Partin
KINGSPORT -- Brian K. Partin, principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in the Kingsport City Schools System, was recently elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).
Gail Connelly, NAESP’s executive director, announced the election results from the association’s headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
Partin begins his three-year term as director of Zone 4 on July 1. He will represent principals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
“Through my professional experiences on the state executive board and at the national level during NAESP’s National Leaders Conference, national conferences and service projects, I have learned the value of collaboration and the importance of having a collective voice,” said Partin. “As Zone 4 Director, I will serve no differently than how I view my current role in the state, which is to be a voice for principals regardless of location, system, or state.”
Partin has been a member of NAESP since 2003, serving on the Bylaws Review Committee from 2012 to 2013. He has also been a member of the Tennessee Principals Association, serving as a district director, vice president and as president. He was a member of the board of directors for the Metro Nashville Principals Association, and has been a member of ASCD since 2006.
Partin began his career as a teacher at Ross Elementary School in 1998 and continued at Eakin Elementary School in 1999. In 2003, he became assistant principal at Andrew Jackson Elementary School (Nashville). He went on to become principal of Crieve Hall Elementary from 2005 to 2006 until he assumed his current role as principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.
Partin earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Anderson University, a master of education degree in administration and supervision from Tennessee State University, and an education specialist degree in administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
Established in 1921, the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) serves elementary and middle school principals in the United States, Canada and overseas. NAESP leads in the advocacy and support for elementary and middle-level principals and other education leaders in their commitment to all children.
