Preliminary investigation of a Tuesday night shooting and drug arrest has revealed that two people may have been involved in an exchange of gunfire at a Kingsport apartment complex — one whom police found bleeding at the scene, another who later drove to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. officers responded to Allen Creek Apartments, 402 Allen Drive. At unit 107 police found a man identified as Charles D. Creadle with multiple gunshot wounds from a 9 mm handgun.
Creadle was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center by Sullivan County EMS, where he was listed as being in stable condition on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Kingsport Police Officer and spokesperson Tom Patton, shortly after Creadle was admitted, a second person arrived at the hospital. This individual, whom Patton identified only as a "person of interest" in the Allen Creek incident, was also suffering gunshot wounds.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Patton said detectives were still working to determine who may be a victim and who may be a suspect, with charges pending.
While processing the scene at the Allen Creek apartment, officers allegedly located more than 26 grams of crack cocaine in a refrigerator. The resident, Tiffani S. Conn, was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for resale.
Patton said detectives believe they have identified all individuals involved the incident, but are currently declining to provide any comment on their relationships or what might have sparked the shooting.
An investigation is continuing with additional charges pending. Police ask anyone with information to contact the KPD at (423) 246-9111 or (423) 229-9429.
