HARDEESVILLE, S.C. — Cumberland University erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and eliminated the Virginia Intermont softball team from NAIA play with a 10-3 victory Tuesday at the Gray Sports Complex.

The Lady Cobras (36-14) held a 3-2 lead entering the bottom of the sixth before committing four errors that aided the Lebanon, Tenn., school’s offensive explosion.

The Bulldogs, who also committed four errors,  outhit VI 13-7.

Micalah Sacre went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, her 14th of the year, and two runs scored to lead the Lady Cobras.
