KINGSPORT — Adam Long not only outran the field Friday at Kingsport Speedway, but he also beat Mother Nature for his second straight Late Model win.

A light rain was falling at the start of the 60-lap feature, but the race got under way and Long proved he was once again the class of the field.

Long started on the front row with Kres VanDyke and the two ran side by side for the first four laps before Long pulled ahead and never looked back.

The Pounding Mill, Va., racer survived double-file restarts after cautions on laps 13 and 36 and another on lap 46, before cruising to his division-leading third victory of the season in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

VanDyke, Lee Tissot, Ronnie McCarty and Daniel Pope rounded out the top five.

Other winners Friday were John Harrell in Street Stock, John Ketron in Pure 4, Brad Ball in Modified 4 and Billy Byington in Rookie Pure 4.

The CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series will be at the .375-mile concrete oval next Friday for the Mahle 250.
