Mount Carmel man faces drug, other charges after allegedly being found passed out in bank lot

BRETT SHORTT

CHURCH HILL — Late Wednesday morning Church Hill police arrested Brett Shortt, 29, 153 Ashley Drive, Mount Carmel, after allegedly finding him passed out, high on drugs, in a car in a bank parking lot.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday CHPD Officer Chris Price was dispatched to an unresponsive man in a car at the First Community Bank parking lot on Richmond Street. Price found Shortt slumped over the steering wheel and had to knock several times very loudly to wake Shortt up.

“Upon speaking with him, I observed him to have thick, slurred speech, to be disoriented, and he appeared to have trouble understanding me during our conversation,” Price stated in his report.

While patting Shortt down, Price allegedly found a syringe in his front pocket, along with a tin in his back pocket that contained three baggies containing white powder residue.

The tags on the vehicle showed to be displayed on a 2008 Hyundai, but the vehicle was a Honda.

Shortt was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication and registration violation.
