May 6th, 2013 9:38 pm by Nick Shepherd

BLOUNTVILLE  —  Three people arrested for burglary were caught thanks to a Piney Flats homeowner’s surveillance cameras.

Tyler Culver, 20, and Dylan Scott Culver, 21, both of Belmeade Drive, Kingsport, and a 15-year-old juvenile were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500. In addition, Tyler Culver and the juvenile suspect were charged with felony vandalism. Tyler Culver was also charged with possession of burglary tools.

The incident happened when the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible burglary at a home on Henry Road Saturday. The victim told police someone had broken into his home and garage. Several guns and jewelry were missing, according to the police report.

The home was equipped with surveillance cameras. After reviewing the tapes, the homeowner was able to positively identify one of the suspects.

Further investigation showed three people were allegedly involved, and all were located and taken into custody.

Three of the victim’s guns were recovered. One gun and some jewelry were traded for drugs, according to the police report.
