KINGSPORT — After being off the past two weeks, Kingsport Speedway roared back to life on Friday night with Adam Long winning the feature event in dominant fashion.

Long led from flag to flag in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Dalton Direct Carpets Late Model Stock race for his second win of the season.

Lee Tissot set a Late Model record in qualifying, getting around the .375-mile track in 14.959 seconds. The previous mark of 15.031 was set on April 5 by Hayden Woods.

The top five qualifiers were inverted for the start with Chad Finchum lining up in the pole position and Long beside him on the front row.

Long survived an early caution on lap eight, and another late in the race on lap 54, to win over Daniel Pope, Finchum, Tissot and Ryan Stiltner.

Jared Broadbent, who had three top-three finishes in Street Stock, finally broke through and got a win, fending off several challenges from runner-up John Harrell to take the checkered flag.

Other winners on the night included Jason Ketron in Pure 4, Billy Taylor in Rookie Pure 4 and Jacob Owens in Legends.

The track will be back in action next Friday.
