COOKEVILLE — Andrew Green and Dylan Tritsch both belted two-run home runs and Derek Niesman added a solo shot, but East Tennessee State fell to Tennessee Tech 10-6 on Wednesday night in a non-conference baseball game at Bush Stadium.
Green hit his fourth homer of the season and Tritsch connected for his second as part of his three-hit night. Tritsch was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Clinton Freeman went 2-for-5, including a double, and scored once. Green, Niesman and Andrew Lasure also finished with two hits each as part of the Buccaneers' 14-hit outing.
Tennessee Tech, one of the top hitting teams in the nation, answered the Bucs' offense with three home runs of its own, and closed the night with 12 hits. Designated hitter Brandon Thomasson homered twice to push his season total to 12 and Daniel Miles smacked his 10th of the year.
Left-hander Jared Burton, one of six ETSU pitchers, took the loss. Burton (1-2) allowed four runs on six hits in the third inning.
Tennessee Tech righty Garrett Baugh (4-1) gave up three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking none. The Golden Eagles (33-12) won their sixth straight game.
ETSU (25-19) continues its road swing Friday when the Bucs travel to Chicago for a three-game set with Illinois-Chicago. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Les Miller Stadium.comments powered by Disqus
