INDIANAPOLIS — The East Tennessee State men’s tennis team hits the road to Nashville for its first-round NCAA tournament matchup.
The Buccaneers face host Vanderbilt, the No. 16 overall seed, on Friday, May 10 at the Currey Tennis Center.
ETSU (13-6) is the No. 4 seed in the region. The Commodores (16-10) hold the top seed.
The other two teams competing at the site are No. 2 regional seed Illinois and No. 3 Georgia State.
The winner of the Nashville Regional advances to the NCAA Championships in Urbana, Ill., on May 16-27.
“We love the fact that we’re (in the tournament) and that we’ve been here for the last seven years,” Bucs coach Yaser Zaatini said in a university release. “The guys are extremely excited."
ETSU is making its seventh consecutive trip and 11th overall to the NCAA tournament. Zaatini has led ETSU to nine of those appearances.
The Bucs have two wins in the NCAAs, defeating Alabama in 2010 and Notre Dame in 2008.
