KNOXVILLE – A Knox County jury today convicted a man of three counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths last year of a good Samaritan, a woman and her unborn daughter.

The Criminal Court jury found Curtis Scott Harper guilty in a May 30, 2012, hit-and-run that left Nelzon A. Soto, 45, Chasity Elaine Thornell, 24, and her unborn daughter dead.

The jury had deliberated nearly five hours Tuesday and returned this morning, trying to decide if Harper was a remorseless and reckless drunk or a “cowardly” victim of an “unavoidable accident.”
