Bristol police: Man killed in State Street crash had 0.31 BAC

BRISTOL, Va. — Autopsy results from a man killed in a downtown Bristol crash in mid-February indicated he had a blood-alcohol concentration nearly four times the legal limit, police said Monday in a news release.

William Marcella was killed after a high-speed trip down State Street ended in a crash Feb. 15.

Police said the medical examiner’s report released Monday concluded that Marcella died from blunt force trauma received in the crash. Marcella had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.31. It is illegal in Virginia to operate a vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
