JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — North Florida put on a hitting clinic against East Tennessee State, batting .438 to win the Atlantic Sun Conference baseball series, including an 11-4 victory in the final game on Saturday.
The Ospreys, the top offensive team in the conference with a .318 batting average going into Saturday’s contest, broke open a 2-2 game with six runs in the fourth inning.
Drew Weeks went 4-for-5, hitting for the cycle and knocking in five runs for North Florida (20-10, 4-2). Corey Bass was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Donnie Dewees finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
The Ospreys outscored ETSU 31-15 and compiled 53 hits over the series.
Clinton Freeman, Tyler Roach and Chris Riopedre had two hits each for ETSU (14-10, 4-5). Andrew Green added a solo homer.
Freeman (4-1) started on the mound and suffered his first loss after allowing eight runs on 11 hits in three innings of work.
The Bucs return home to Thomas Stadium for non-conference games against Radford (14-11) on Monday and Tennessee Tech (21-7) on Tuesday.
