JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Kerry Doane came through with his fifth complete game of the season and East Tennessee State evened its series with North Florida by posting a 7-5 win in Atlantic Sun Conference baseball action Friday afternoon.
By the time Doane walked out to the mound in the bottom of the first inning, his teammates had already provided him a five-run cushion. Doane (5-1) came through with a solid outing, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits. He also struck out four batters without issuing a walk.
Clint Freeman went 3-for-5 and scored a run for ETSU (14-9, 4-4). Andrew Green went 3-for-5, scored twice, drove in a run and made a pair of sparkling defensive plays in center field.
Zach Thompson drove in three runs for the Bucs and Chris Riopedre came up with two RBIs.
North Florida starter Nick Allbritton wasn’t able to make it out of the sixth after being tagged for five earned runs on 11 hits.
Joe Wielbruda led the Ospreys (19-10, 3-2) with three hits and Ryan Roberson added two hits and two RBIs.
