Artist sought for outdoor painting in downtown Kingsport

The area in white on the building is where the decorative painting will be.

Urban Synergy and KingsportARTS are seeking a proposal for a decorative painting on the wall shown white in photo at right. The building is on the corner of East Sullivan and Center Street. This area is a main Gateway to the downtown area's future Arts District.

Artist must submit the entry form available at along with a proposal showing design and colors. The proposals will be reviewed by a team of local artists and property owners.

Eligible artists are from the region. All work must be original. Work produced in a classroom or under instruction is not eligible. The entry free is $5 per submission. Make checks payable to KingsportARTS. The artist’s fee is negotiable.

The deadline for entries is noon, March 28, 2013.

Entries will be juried from submissions.

Images may be scanned, photographed or digitally rendered and named as follows: last name_first initial_image number. Example: Jane Smith's first image would be "smith_j_1.jpg".

The finalist will be notified the week of April 1, 2013.

Target date for completion of the project is April 30, 2013.
