ETSU to screen 'Sun Come Up,' a film about climate change

March 18th, 2013 9:21 am by staff report

JOHNSON CITY — East Tennessee State University’s Office of Sustainability will sponsor a showing of the Oscar award-nominated film “Sun Come Up” at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 21, in the D.P. Culp University Center forum room.

The film relates the “human face” of climate change as it follows the people of the Carteret Islands, a remote island chain in the South Pacific, when they are driven from their islands by climate change and must leave their ancestral land in search of a new home. Their quest takes them to the war-torn island of Bougainville, 50 miles across the open ocean.
