KINGSPORT — The beautiful game looked like poetry in motion Friday night at Indian Highland Park.
In a rematch of last year’s sectional soccer showdown, Dobyns-Bennett got the upper hand this time, downing Bearden 6-2.
“We’ve been waiting a long time to get back at them,” said D-B's Evan Fenyves, who scored two goals in the rout. “Tonight we played the way we wanted. Bearden always has a strong side and will never give up. But tonight was our night.”
The Indians (3-0-0) outshot Bearden 28-6 and had a 12-5 advantage in shots on goal.
“We like to say we have a good product,” said Tribe coach Chris Woods. “We just do what we do.
“We have 13 seniors, so with that kind of maturity they can’t help but be stoic. Right now we look good, but I still think we can get better at decision making.”
Maryville plays at D-B on Tuesday. The Indians follow that match by hosting the Metcalf 2k13 tournament starting on Friday.
