Brian L. Davidson, 45, of 2005 Hermitage Drive
A Kingsport motorist has been arrested after allegedly striking a vehicle on East Center Street Thursday night, then continuing on to collide with three more that were sitting in a parking lot.
After his SUV came to rest on the hood of a pickup truck he reportedly attempted to run down a street to flee police, but was chased down and determined to be under the influence. No one was injured in the incident, though Brian L. Davidson, 45, of 2005 Hermitage Drive, allegedly caused thousands of dollars in property damage.
Kingsport police were alerted to the collisions at approximately 10:45 Thursday night. According to an arrest report a motorist traveling east on East Center Street was slowing for a red light at the intersection with Memorial Boulevard. In their rearview mirror the driver allegedly observed a Ford Explorer quickly approaching, prompting them to swerve into the other eastbound lane to avoid being rear-ended.
But another vehicle slowing at the intersection was not as fortunate, according to a police accident report, and was struck from behind by the Ford Explorer. The occupants then exited to speak with the driver, later identified as Davidson, but he drove around their vehicle and onto Memorial Boulevard.
Davidson allegedly continued on Memorial to the intersection of Fort Henry Drive and onto Sherwood Road. A police report says he then exited the right side of the roadway, traveled over a curb and into the parking lot of Big Lots, colliding with a stationary Ford Ranger. His vehicle reportedly continued onto the pickup's hood, pushing it into a parked car.
That car then slid into another pickup. Kingsport police say all three of the parked vehicles were marked as for sale.
As police arrived Davidson was allegedly spotted running from the crash and down Sherwood Road. Following a brief pursuit he was apprehended and determined to be under the influence.
An arrest report says Davidson admitted to drinking a pint of Vodka prior to the incident. He also allegedly said he did not remember where he was coming from, but knew he was going home.
Davidson was instead arrested and charged with driving under the influence, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to exercise due care.comments powered by Disqus
